Citroën throws out a challenge to its young ZX: attract Chinese drivers. Because of the joint venture signed with Dongfeng, it rolls out initially in 1992 under the name Fukang. A preliminary experiment for the Brand, which ends in a success!
In 1998, its elongated version (4 doors plus trunk) joins it: the Fukang 988. After that, it is again updated, with a new front, interior elements borrowed from the Xsara, and is renamed the Elysée in 2003. For lovers of luxury, there is the Elysée VIP, its limousine variant – elongated at its centre post.
In 2008, the C-Elysée signals significant new remodelling made to the Asian ZXs, to both the trunk and the tailgate. They are replaced by a completely new model under the same name in 2012.
